Steamers / Steamers by Time

The steamers report lists the latest steamers in the market. A steamer is defined as a selection that has shortened from its opening price. The opening price is the first price the bookmaker offered when pricing up the selection. In this report, if something has shortened with more than two bookmakers we classify it as a steamer. The steamers report states the best price still available for the selection, e.g. 11/4 for Mystery Woman, and the number of bookmakers it has moved with. The report is ordered by significance, as described in top movers.

The steamers by time report provides the same data but in time order.

Top Movers / Antepost Top Movers

The top movers report lists the latest movers for a single bookmaker in the market. In the example shown below Buffering has moved from 5/1 to 11/10 with Bet365. The movers reports are ordered by significance, a value we calculate and apply to highlight how significant the move is. We use this to help distinguish between moves that look impressive and important moves that may not; for example, a 100/1 shot moving to 50/1 is less significant than a 8/1 shot moving to 6/1, due to the amount of money it would take to move the prices.

Top Differences / Antepost Top Diffs

The top differences report lists the latest differences between bookmaker odds for the same selection. In the example below, Ibicenco is available as short as 40/1 and as big as 250/1. The report is ordered by margin of difference.

Drifters

The drifters report lists the latest drifters in the market. A drifter is defined as a selection that has lengthened from its opening price. The opening price is the first price the bookmaker offered when pricing up the selection. In this report, if something has lengthened with more than two bookmakers we classify it as a drifter. The drifters report states the best price available for the selection and the number of bookmakers it has moved with. The report is ordered by significance as described in top movers.

Best Books

Oddschecker calculates the total book (overround or overbroke) for each event. The larger the book value, the more money the bookies will make. The smaller the overround, the more chance the punter has to make money. To find out more read our help centre glossary.
