DUKE COSIMO will start a short-priced favourite here and there will be some very long faces if he's beaten. A son of Pivotal out of the high-class Nannina, he started favourite on his debut at Nottingham but looked in need of the experience and will have come on a bundle. Another Claret has shown glimmers of ability but may have to wait for a handicap so Timeless Appeal may be the one to chase the selection home as Peter Chapple-Hyam's speedily-bred filly showed promise on her debut at Lingfield in November. Secret Empress was beaten a long way at Southwell but still looks best of the remainder.

Oddschecker Verdict

There should be no need to look past DUKE COSIMO in the finale. The Pivotal gelding got within a neck of making a winning debut over 6f at Nottingham earlier this month, this certainly doesn't look any tougher and just normal improvement for that experience should see Sir Michael Stoute's representative off the mark in good style. Timeless Appeal showed signs of ability first time out on the all-weather last November and can build on that to give the selection most to think about, ahead of the more experienced Another Claret.
