Treaty Of Paris was an 11/1 chance when landing this 12 months ago but it's normally a race for fancied runners. Basateen looks likely to start favourite this year having won by eight lengths at Doncaster following a debut third at Newmarket but GROWL (NAP) looked one to follow when making a winning start at Ascot. He was easy to back on that occasion as he looked as though the run would do him good but quickened impressively to score and the third has franked the form since. Misleading also won on debut, at Goodwood, but that form has still to be advertised and more interesting is the progressive Prince Gagarin. Jamaica represents Ballydoyle and has the usual clutch of big-race entries. He easily justified favouritism at Galway but may already be looking for a longer distance. Dutch Connection looks the pick of the remainder.

Oddschecker Verdict

The form of Basateen's Doncaster rout is throwing out mixed messages at present, though he could well prove to be the class act in this race. MISLEADING is clearly talented too, and he was impressive when displaying a professional attitude on his debut to win a competitive Goodwood maiden. This should be his ideal trip and he is open to significant progression with that first start under his belt. Anything brought on a raid by Aidan O'Brien deserves the utmost respect and Jamaica is an intriguing runner. After an encouraging debut he duly obliged at short odds at Galway, though it's hard to gauge where he is in the Ballydoyle pecking order. Prince Gagarin could also improve for Ed Dunlop, having won a small-field event Newmarket last time.

Prediction: 1st Misleading, 2nd Basateen, 3rd Jamaica
