Sporting Life Preview

ALSHAN FAJER ticks all the boxes in this opener. He won a higher grade contest over track and trip a fortnight ago and has been raised only 3lb. Jamhoori won at Wolverhampton last time but this looks tougher while though Kings Bayonet scored over hurdles last month he hasn’t won on the Flat since 2014. Communicator looks a threat dropping in class for this but Gaelic Silver is upped in distance after going close in a claimer. Royal Marskell won at Southwell on his penultimate start but has done all his winning on the all-weather at the latter course so far.

Oddschecker Verdict

KINGS BAYONET produced a cracking performance when seeing off the progressive Tara Flow to land a competitive handicap hurdle at Huntington last month and he returns to Flat duty on a fair mark if in the same form. He will need to produce another smart performance, though, as he meets improving recent C&D winner Alshan Fajer and Gaelic Silver who both promise to prove worthy adversaries. As is often the case, Communicator might be able to run well in defeat.

Prediction: 1st Kings Bayonet, 2nd Alshan Fajer, 3rd Gaelic Silver
