Lingfield 14:05 Racecard and Betting Preview

Sporting Life Preview

Lancelot Du Lac has returned to action in top form and followed a handicap success at Chelmsford with victory in the Listed Cleeve Stakes here beating Boom The Groom and PRETEND in the process. But the latter had no luck in-running on that occasion and the 2015 winner of this is fancied to turn the tables with Adam Kirby back on board. Progressive handicapper Verne Castle faces a much tougher task along with Bowson Fred, who finished in front of Royal Birth, Sign of The Kodiac and Boom The Groom when second at Wolverhampton last time. Buying Trouble is capable of placing at this level and Kevin Ryan’s new inmate, Ride Like The Wind, is interesting having won a Group 3 contest in France in the past.

Oddschecker Verdict

PRETEND failed to give his true running when beaten a length into fifth behind Lancelot Du Lac in the Cleves Stakes over 6f here last time, enduring a tortuous route. He is expected to turn the tables on Dean Ivory's charge now reopposing him on 3lb better terms, over a shorter trip, in a contest he was successful in two years ago. The last-named is tactically versatile and should put up plenty of resistance, though the dark horse may be Ride Like The Wind, a Group 3 winner in France and 75,000-euro purchase who is debuting for Kevin Ryan.

Prediction: 1st Pretend, 2nd Lancelot Du Lac, 3rd Ride Like The Wind
