Mixture, 5.20 Mr Preacher Man, 5.50 Diablo. DOUBLE: Tranquil Tiger and
Master Rooney. Tranquil Tiger is a model of consistency and
looks the one to beat in the Listed Fountain Stakes at
Goodwood. The four-year-old has finished in the first two
on four of his seven starts this year and has already notched up
two wins at this level. He came up slightly short when upped to Group
company at Glorious Goodwood but he was far from disgraced in
finishing just a length and a half behind 2006 St Leger hero
Sixites Icon. There is nothing of that calibre in this field
and a reproduction of that effort would see him have a major say in
the outcome of the race. Headline Act had to go down as an eyecatcher
when third on his debut at Doncaster and he is taken to get off the
mark in the EBF/RH Hall Maiden Stakes. The Dalakhani colt was slowly away on his
racecourse introduction on Town Moor but the penny began to drop
late on and he stayed on takingly to pick up a place. His breeding suggests this extra furlong will
only serve to bring about more improvement and he really does look
a winner in waiting. Royal Dignitary has been racking up the wins at
a lowly level and the manner of those victories suggest he should
go well in the Boddingtons Redcar Straight-Mile Championship. The Dandy Nicholls inmate has registered five
victories in his last six starts, admittedly those came in a
combination of claiming and selling company though. However, he has been winning with plenty in hand
each time and he is well up to taking a hand in the finish. Master Rooney has shown up well on his first two
starts and can make it third time lucky in division two of the EBF
Maiden. The juvenile is clearly held in high regard by
trainer Bryan Smart as he was sent off a warm order for his debut
and although he failed to score, he was not beaten far into second
and showed signs of greenness. He was again too keen when second to a
subsequent winner in Zuzu last time and if he can learn to settle,
a race of this nature is his for the taking. Mazaris has been knocking on the door and is
taken to break his duck in the Day Time, Night Time, Great Time
Median Auction Maiden at Kempton. Luca Cumani's colt has been placed on his last
three starts and was beaten only a length on his latest outing at
Lingfield. He is a big, scopey individual and is still
improving so it would be no surprise to see him get off the mark on
this occasion. To say Maidstone Mixture was out of his depth in
the St Leger would be a huge understatement, but he has shown
decent form over the sticks and should go close in the Sterling
Assurance Juvenile Novices' Hurdle at Perth. |
