3.50 Torphichen, 4.20 Angus Newz, 4.50 Fongoli, 5.20
Gracechurch. LINGFIELD: 2.10 Via Mia, 2.40 My Sweet Georgia, 3.10 I'm
Sensational, 3.40 Tabulate, 4.10 FEELING FAB (NAP), 4.40 Silent
Master, 5.10 Girl Of Pangaea. Double: Feeling Fab and Chilly Filly. Feeling Fab is worth one more chance in the EBF Maiden Fillies'
Stakes at Lingfield on Tuesday. The Refuse To Bend filly made a really pleasing debut at Thirsk,
finishing second to a highly-regarded juvenile from the Mark
Wallace stable. Because of that, she was sent off at the skinny odds of 4-11 for
her next start at Catterick, but faded tamely in the closing stages
and came home third. That performance was too bad to be true - but it may have come
too soon as it was just over a week after her debut. As Feeling Fab has had a month to recover since Catterick, there
will be no excuses if Mark Johnston's charge does not come home in
front this time. Whenever Ed Dunlop requests the services of Frankie Dettori the
hint should be taken - which is the case with Girl Of Pangaea in
the Tulyar Median Auction Maiden Stakes. This once-raced daughter of Soviet Star made a pleasing debut
last November when second of 10 at Kempton. Girl Of Pangaea has obviously had her problems, having been off
the track for 10 months, and while she has a long way to go to live
up to her 105,000 price-tag, the filly can gain a valuable first
victory. Johnston's Chilly Filly should appreciate the step up to a mile
in the Edward Frost "Sorry" Maiden Auction Stakes at BeverlFilly
has run a little green on both of her starts but should now be all
the better for the experience. George Moore's Reel Buddy Star was a game winner at Ripon in
soft conditions at the end of last month and should go well again
off bottom weight in the Bay, Filey, Premier Coastal Holiday
Village Handicap. Ripon is a track that suits front-runners and those forcing
tactics also tend to go down well on the Westwood. Despite the ground having been officially described as good at
Ripon, conditions were far more testing than that and it will be a
similar story again. The ground will be even more demanding at Leicester, but Michael
Jarvis has no qualms about letting Torphichen take his chance in
the Leicestershire Maiden Stakes. A colt by Alhaarth, he made a pleasing debut when second of 15
at Windsor on debut and nominal improvement should make him the one
to beat. |
