Gerrard has been slashed from 8/1 to 8/13 to join Liverpool for a second time.
Just days ago we reported that Steven Gerrard was leaving LA Galaxy after two disappointing seasons. He’s now out of contract and has confirmed he's received several offers from the Premier League.
Overnight, it was reported a reunion with Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp is in advanced talks. During his first stint at the club Gerrard became captain and won everything apart from the Premier League, so talk about a possible return was always likely.
With Klopp’s men sitting at the top of the table though, a fairly tale reunion could be on the cards, which would enable him to win the one trophy missing from his collection. Should all of that come to fruition, we could finally see the death of the 'slip' video that has almost certainly been giving Gerrard nightmares for the last two years.Only 48 hours ago, Gerrard was 8/1 to make the return to Anfield, with Celtic the favourites for his signature. With rumours circulating that he was last night in talks with the Anfield club, his odds have been slashed to 8/13 with some bookmakers, or best priced 21/10.
Oddschecker users aren't convinced that Gerrard would still fit in at Liverpool under Klopp though, with 42% saying he doesn't fit in. 41% think Gerrard should be employed as a coach, which could be where the Liverpool hierachy see a role for him, as opposed to a playing one.
With neither the player or manager denying the speculation, a Liverpool return could happen sooner than anticipated for Gerrard.
