After the news broke of Robin van Persie's decision not to sign a new contract, Paul Merson declared war, "the fans are
going to slaughter him." RIP RVP. Though, the Dutchman looks set to be given a new lease of life in the form of a £200,000
plus contract at Man City. Yesterday City were as big as 5/2 to seal the deal before the summer's end but are now just
8/11. Man United have reportedly joined the race with their rivals and are joint second favourites with Juventus at 6/1 whilst
Real Madrid and Barcelona stand at 16/1 and 20/1 respectively.
Meanwhile, down the road in North London, fellow acronym AVB is planning to plunder with a '£100m war chest' according
to the Sun. That chest may also contain the jewels Real Madrid are set to offer in exchange for Luka Modric. The Spanish champions
are odds on to secure the Croat's services. Also departing may be Jermain Defoe with QPR 9/2 favourites to give the unwanted
striker a home across town.
The treasure will soon be spent though with Spurs in line to snap up Russian revelation Alan Dzagoev. Tottenham head the betting
on Dzagoev's next club at 5/2 with Chelsea second favourites at 13/2. Arsenal are also in the hunt for a diminutive Russian
to stroll around the Emirates after Andrei Arshavin's departure and are 8/1 to secure Dzagoev's scrawl.
Joao Moutinho's impressive Euro 2012 sees the Portuguese playmaker priced at a mere 4/11 by William Hill in their Tottenham's
'To Sign in Summer Window' market. Hills also have Dzagoev at 1/9 to be plying his trade at White Hart Lane as well
as Loic Remy at 4/11, we think Harry might have been telling them stories through car windows again. Moutinho, however, is
looking increasingly likely to replace the departing Modric.
Finally, could Theo be the next to reject poor Arsene? Skybet have priced the whippersnapper at 7/1 to join AVB's band
of pirates and finally shatter the Frenchman's already breaking heart. Oh and Reading are 4/9 to sign Jordan Rhodes.
