Emile Heskey was one of three players released by Aston Villa today. American goalkeeper Brad Guzan and Carlos Cuellar - signed
for almost £8 million from Rangers five years ago - have also left the club.
Heskey was signed by Martin O'Neill for around £3.5 million four seasons ago but featured sparingly in his time at the
club, starting few games. However, the 34 year-old is keen to keep playing and former club Leicester are 2/1 favourites to
re-sign the forward.
Carlos Cuellar, another of O'Neill's signings, has also stated his intention to remain playing in England. The Spaniard
declared “I love the football, I love the people, I love the country. My best option is to stay in this country."
Sunderland could be an option for Cuellar as O'Neill looks to build his side for the new season but as yet no approach
has been made. O'Neill, who also managed Heskey at Leicester, is 12/1 to take the striker to current club Sunderland
with Leeds also the same price. Full betting on Heskey's next club below.
