West Ham are unbeaten in six home games but home or away they are currently on an eight match winless streak as the goals have dried up and they’ve found the net just four times. Earlier in the season the Hammers form was better on the road than at home and they’ve won just five of their last 18 home games (W5-D7-L6). Furthermore, they’ve won just one of their last eight home matches against middle-third teams with five draws.

Questions were also mounting about Southampton’s form but they were positively answered with a 4-0 thumping of Arsenal and their only two away defeats this term have come at top-five Crystal Palace and Man City. However, they’ve scored fewer than one goal per game in their 27 away matches since the start of last season and 12 of their 17 trips to middle-third teams since 2013/14 have had fewer than three goals with nine having fewer than two.

Half-time draws have also been common in Southampton’s away matches, with 15 in 27 since the start of last season including six in eight this term. Given the Hammers current scoring problems, as they continue to miss Lanzini, Payet and Moses, another tight start could be on the cards and like five of the six meetings between these teams in the past three seasons we expect this to be level at half-time.
