The nominations for the 2016 British Academy Film Awards were announced on Friday morning and Eddie Redmayne is best odds of 7-1 to bag back-to-back Best Actor gongs.

Redmayne, who is nominated for his portrayal of artist Einar Wegener in The Danish Girl, landed the award for The Theory of Everything 12 months ago, but the British actor looks set to lose out to Leonardo DiCaprio this time round.

DiCaprio is as short as 1-4 (best odds 1-3) to bag the award for his role as the ultimate survivalist Hugh Glass in The Revenant, and it looks a done deal that the US star will pick up his first Bafta.

Brie Larson isn’t quite as short in the Best Actress market but the 26-year-old American is still an odds-on chance (best odds 1.91) after her brilliant performance in Room, and she looks the one to beat.

Her competition includes Dame Maggie Smith but it looks unlikely (best odds 12-1) that the 81-year-old will land the spoils for her role in Lady In The Van.

The Best Supporting Actor section looks a straight shoot-out between Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies) and Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation) but the money has been for the former who is as short as 1.36 with Bet365 (best odds 1.62).
