Although MALLYMKUN(best price 7/2) has been off the track for 135-days, Karl Burke’s charge is taken to defy that absence and follow up her C&D success the last time she set foot on the racecourse. Prior to that well-deserved victory, the Kheleyf filly had proved a shade frustrating by finishing in the frame without winning in her five previous starts, but hopefully now that she’s got her head in front, it will give her the confidence to go put another one on the board.

This staying handicap has a nice shape to it with the dead eight set to go to post and for those that enjoy a little bit of each-way skulduggery, FIRST MOHICAN(best price 9/2) fits the bill to a tee. Arguably much better suited by an all-weather surface nowadays, Alan King’s charge ran right up to his best form when chasing home the smart Barye at Lingfield last time, and given that the race wasn’t run to suit, it was an even more creditable performance by the eight-year-old than the bare result suggests. 1-1 at today’s track courtesy of a hard-earned victory over 1m6f back in December, this classy chestnut should get the race run to suit with several front runners likely to make this a decent test.
