Last year's top two clash in the Hindmarsh Stadium on Friday morning, live on BT Sport.
Adelaide United v Western Sydney Wanderers - Friday 09:50, BT Sport 2
Last season’s Champions host the runners-up but both will have been disappointed with their starts to this campaign. Adelaide could only manage a draw at the Jets in their opener, but will be glad to return to the Hindmarsh Stadium, where they won seven of their final nine last term. The Wanderers, meanwhile, were thumped 4-0 in the Sydney derby in what was their heaviest ever defeat and so Tony Popovic will be looking for a strong reaction from his players here.
Adelaide had a W7-D4-L2 home record last term but if we only include games against top-four sides they were just W1-D1-L2, with this fixture ending in a 1-1 draw. Indeed, these two drew three of their four meetings last term and at this early stage of the season after poor results in their opening games, both managers might well be happy with a point.
The Wanderers were W6-D4-L4 on the road last term, but if we exclude results against the bottom-three they were just W1-D4-L4 in games that tended to be tight as five saw fewer than three goals. We think it could be a similar story here so we’re going to back Under 2.5 Goals and also the draw, with the 1-1 correct score also worth a punt at 7.5.
