The Jets look a bet in the Asian Handicap market in Thursday's early A League clash.
Melbourne City v Newcastle Jets - Thursday 08:50, BT Sport 1
City suffered their second defeat of the season as they were beaten 1-0 at Brisbane and as a result drop down to 3rd. The Jets, meanwhile, have now lost back-to-back games after they were unbeaten in their first three as they were beaten 2-0 at Wellington and are now down to 7th.
City were beaten 3-2 in their opening home game against Perth but bounced back with a 2-1 victory over struggling champions Adelaide, though they do remain vulnerable defensively as they’ve managed just two clean sheets in 16 home games since the start of last season. Indeed, though they won four of their five home matches against bottom-three teams last term, they managed just two clean sheets in these games and the Jets put three past them on the way to a 3-2 victory.
The Jets came from behind to pick up a point at the Wanderers in their opening away game this term and they’ve generally proved tough to break down one the road as they haven’t lost any of their 15 away games since the start of last season by more than two goals. Indeed, when travelling to last season’s top four they performed above expectations (W1-D2-L3) and the Wanderers were the only team to beat them by more than one goal which suggests City’s odds of 1.44 are very skinny.
Furthermore, City have won just one of their last seven by more than one, so we’re backing the Jets +1 on the Asian Handicap. That means if they lose by just one we get our stake back, while if they draw or win our bet’s a winner.
