Melbourne have been prolific away against bottom-six teams since the start of last season.
Western Sydney Wanderers v Melbourne City – Friday, 08:50, BT Sport 1
After thumping the Wanderers 4-1 in the FFA Cup Final in September, second-place Melbourne City travel to Western Sydney on Friday looking to narrow the gap between themselves and first-place Sydney FC. Having won just one of their first six games, seventh-placed Western Sydney will be braced for a tough fixture.
The most concerning factor for the Wanderers must be their failure to keep a clean sheet in the league so far. Despite playing well in the opening period against Melbourne Victory last weekend, they suffered after the hour mark against a series of incisive Victory attacks. Western Sydney have won eight of their 16 home games since the beginning of last season, but in the absence of top scorer Brendon Santalab (who has scored four of the their last seven goals), they will have to find another way to compensate for their leaky defence.
Melbourne City have been prolific away against bottom-six teams since the start of last season, averaging 2.5 goals per game, which has been just as well given they’ve conceded 1.7 gpg. Comparing recent form we like the look of the Match Result and Over 2.5 Goals market.
