Goals look on the cards in the big Bundesliga clash of the weekend.
Dortmund v Bayern – Saturday 17:30, BT Sport 2
Bayern are topping the table as most would have expected at the start of the campaign but they are struggling to control games as well as they did under Pep Guardiola. They’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last five games but are still the best when it comes to going forward. Arjen Robben scored on his return to the Netherlands side last week and has scored more goals against Dortmund than anyone else. With Robert Lewandowski having 21 goals in his 20 appearances for club and country this season they are almost impossible to stop as a pair. In the 29 matches both have started and completed an hour in since Lewandowski moved to Bayern they’ve averaged 2.72 goals per game – up from 2.14 gpg in their other 49 matches in this time.
The only side to have scored more this season is Dortmund and while they’ve suffered a recent slump – one win in five – they come into this game with their strongest squad all season as a number of players return to full fitness. Thomas Tuchel remains unbeaten at the Westfalenstadion, with 17 wins from 22 matches since the start of last season. 16 of those had at least three goals and 13 had four or more so there’s every chance of a high scoring match.
This fixture was goalless last season but at that time Dortmund had conceded had conceded once in their previous six games while this time around they’ve conceded 10 in their last seven despite facing just one of the current top seven. With Bayern also a lot looser under Carlo Ancelotti than back then Over 3.5 Goals looks a fantastic price at 3.1 in a match that could cover that line with ease.
