Celtic could find life difficult in Germany on Tuesday night, live on BT Sport ESPN.
Borussia Monchengladbach v Celtic - Tuesday 19:45, BT Sport ESPN
Monchengladbach were comfortable 2-0 winners when these side met a couple of weeks ago, but they continue to struggle domestically as they’re down in 11th in the Bundesliga and winless in four. Celtic have had no such problems in the SPL, though they have just one point to show for their Champions League efforts so far.
Monchengladbach ended up bottom of their group last term and have won just one of their four Champions League home games, though they have had some tricky fixtures against Barca, Man City and Juventus, whom they drew against, while they beat Sevilla. Indeed, Gladbach are generally excellent at home as they’ve won 10 of 12 unbeaten home games in the Bundesliga and Barcelona had to come from behind to beat them 2-1 on matchday two.
Whilst Celtic will cause most teams problems at Celtic Park, they’ve won just one of their 41 European away games since 2003/04, losing 29 of these. Indeed, they’ve lost 14 of 15 Champions League road matches since 2007/08, failing to score in 10. Since Barcelona are the only side to score at Borussia Park in Gladbach’s last five matches there in all competitions, we’re backing Monchengladbach to win to nil.
