Barnsley v QPR - Wednesday 19:45

QPR did us proud with their 2-0 win at Cardiff on Sunday, landing best odds of 17/1 about the correct score, but they would be hard-pushed to collect another three points from such a disjointed attacking performance for a second game in succession and the value against promoted Barnsley might well be with the draw at 12/5.

The Hoops will always give themselves a chance of victory in any game if they continue to defend as stubbornly as they did in the Welsh capital but they benefited from a couple of defensive errors and Barnsley's need isn't quite so desperate - you'd expect them to keep their discipline a bit better following Saturday's morale-boosting win over Derby.

The Tykes were worthy 2-0 winners, announcing their arrival at this level with a performance that evoked the spirit of their blistering League One promotion charge in the second half of last term. But it was a big effort that could lead to an After-the-Lord-Mayor’s-show display here. Without Sam Winnall, they remain below full strength.

However, the ability to shut up shop and take a 0-0 when necessary has been a feature of their momentum in 2016. Four times in the final 15 matches last term they refused to blink first and the 17/2 available on no goalscorer is a worthy supplement. One suspects it's not a result Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would be too upset about.
