Nottingham Forest v Newcastle - Friday 19:45, Sky Sports 1

Newcastle crashed out of the EFL Cup on penalties in midweek, full of regrets about failing to capitalise against a Hull side that was there for the taking. Coming on the back of a shock defeat at home to lowly Blackburn, when Rafa Benitez made six changes with one eye on the trip to the KCOM Stadium, the Magpies suddenly look vulnerable.

The notion that Benitez can just rotate at will and still expect to steamroller most Championship opposition has lost credence and the quick turnaround leaves the Spaniard with little chance to iron out the creases that most concern him. He wants better game-management but he might have to rely on firepower to get the job done here.

Both teams have scored in every game at the City Ground this season - 32 goals in eight matches - and Forest have looked like a team playing with renewed freedom now that owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has taken a back seat. They should be full of confidence after back-to-back televised wins at Ipswich and Barnsley, scoring seven times in the process.

Whether they have enough about them to put the Magpies to the sword is another matter and we should expect a determined response. But it would be a shock if the cavalier hosts didn’t find the target at least once and this has the makings of a goal fest. Take the 2/1 available on over 3.5 goals and back it up with a bet on over 4.5 goals at 5/1.
