Gary Monk's side won't go down without a fight against Cardiff on Saturday lunchtime.
Cardiff v Leeds - Saturday 12:30, Sky Sports 1
Paul Trollope lambasted his Cardiff players for a lack of heart and desire at Preston in midweek. The Bluebirds went down 3-0 at Deepdale, barely laying a glove on the Lilywhites in a one-sided first half, and the very least we should expect is a positive reaction in front of the cameras. Expect the hosts to come out on the front foot.
Trollope insists "he didn’t see it coming" on the back of a brave fightback in the 3-2 defeat at Norwich but the truth is Cardiff have been far too passive in the opening exchanges of all seven matches. Maybe the possession-based philosophy gets lost in translation, but a couple of Shane Duffy own goals is all they have to show across six hours of first-half action.
That could change here. Expect the hosts to come out on the front foot and take the game to the visitors, who themselves might be slow to get going after the relief of bagging a late winner in a tense clash with rock-bottom Blackburn. Ultimately, though, it’s hard to make a case for the home win at 5/4. The two teams a very evenly-matched and the draw at 12/5 is much more attractive.
Garry Monk continually speaks of his frustration in trying to put hard work behind the scenes on to the pitch and his players presumably understand the potential consequences of another limp display at this juncture. So they probably wouldn’t go down without a fight if they did fall behind and there’s mileage in the Cardiff/Draw half time/full time outcome at 16/1.
