So far, none of the four group matches played by these two have had more than two goals.
Man Utd v Fenerbahce – Thursday 20:05, BT Sport 2
Neither of these sides have managed a win in their last two league matches, both registering consecutive draws. Man Utd scraped past Zorya Luhansk 1-0 last time to pick up their first points of the group stages and that result means they stretch their unbeaten run at Old Trafford in Europe to 12 matches, winning nine of these as Real Madrid were the last team to beat them back in 2012/13. Seven of these had fewer than three strikes, while seven of the last eight were also level at the break.
Fenerbahce top the group on four points and in the Europa League they’ve lost just two of their 15 away matches since 2012/13, but few of the opposition have been as strong as this Utd side. 2008/09 was the last time they reached the Champions League group stages but they have since played seven road games against sides we have ranked above them in qualification rounds where their record reads W1-D2-L4.
What’s more, Turkish sides have lost nine of 10 winless trips to England since 2010/11. Eight of these had fewer than three strikes as the Turkish teams have netted just three goals in this time, but haven’t been blown away. So far, none of the four group matches played by these two have had more than two goals, so under 2.5 goals looks a great shout at odds-against, while Turkish sides’ poor record in England means we’ll also have a few quid on a United win and under 2.5 goals.
