The visitors look a spot of value in Saturday's FA Cup clash at the Proact Stadium.
Chesterfield v Wycombe - Saturday 15:00
Chesterfield came from behind to beat Bristol Rovers 3-2 last weekend, the second time in the space of four days that they had prevailed by that scoreline. Prior to that, they were on a run of eight consecutive league defeats. But talent has never been the problem at the Proact, experience has - and their lack of it could haunt them once again here.
For the likes of Ryan Fulton, Dion Donohue, Conor Dimaio, Liam O’Neil, Reece Mitchell and Jake Beesley - all of whom started those last two matches - this represents a first full season as a first-team regular. In essence, the Spireites are essentially Checkatrade Trophy fodder but doing it for real, learning as they go through an unforgiving League One schedule.
In the last round, they caused a mini surprise by winning away at Colchester, a team from the division below that also prides itself on developing youth. Against Wycombe, they could be unhinged by the knowhow of Matt Bloomfield, Paul Hayes and Adebayo Akinfenwa. The gap between them is just ten places, the difference in class is almost insignificant.
If Wycombe can keep things tight and reach the break unscathed, this arguably becomes an each-of-two contest over the second 45 minutes. Take the 7/1 available on the Draw/Wycombe half time/full time bet. Chesterfield have won eight matches in all competitions this season and all but one has been built on an interval lead.
