Celta Vigo are on a roll so can they see off a Villarreal side that are proving hard to beat?
Villarreal v Celta Vigo – Sunday 19:45, Sky Sports 1
The International break came at the wrong time for Celta Vigo, who were in a precarious position with one point from their first four games, but had got on a role with three straight wins, scoring eight times, including a sensational 4-3 triumph over Barcelona. It will be interesting to see whether they can maintain this after a break and visiting a Villarreal side that are proving difficult to beat.
Indeed, the Yellow Submarine are unbeaten this season, conceding just four times and much credit should go to Fran Escriba who took over just a week before the start of the season as the club looked to be in turmoil. Their form at home is good as well, winning their last two and going W14-D5-L3 since the start of last season. Celta Vigo have lost their last six trips to top-half sides and it’s very easy for them to suffer a come-down after their Barca result, so we’ll back a home win.
Although they were 3-0 up at half-time against Barca, Eduardo Berizzo’s side usually keep the opening exchanges tight as their previous seven games had all been goalless after 45 minutes. Given Villarreal’s success has been built on their defence so far we wouldn’t be surprised to see another 0-0 HT score. As we fancy the home side to take the spoils we’ll also have a few quid on the Draw/Villarreal half-time/full-time at 5.0.
