Back the visitor to take maximum points from Sunday's TV clash at Sporting Gijon.
Gijon v Real Sociedad – Sunday 17:30, Sky Sports 3
Sporting Gijon’s dismal form continued with a 3-2 defeat at Malaga despite leading twice. It seems a long time since they collected seven points form their opening three matches as they’ve now got just two from their last eight. This string of poor results means they’re languishing down in the relegation zone and it doesn’t get any easier with an in-form Real Sociedad coming to town.
Sociedad have won four of their last five matches, keeping a clean sheet in each of these victories. Only one of these was on the road though where their record is a hit or miss W2-D0-L3 but encouragingly for Eusebio Sacristan’s side both wins came against sides also down in the bottom-six with Gijon.
Defence has been the main issue for the hosts as only winless bottom-club Granada have conceded more goals than them to date. With this in mind, we think the visitors, currently residing in 6th place, look a tempting price at 2.35, but at a more fruitful 3.7 we’ll take a chance on a Sociedad win to nil. Only Barca have prevented from Gijon from netting at home so far but this Sociedad side have dominated weaker opposition this term and once they get in front they rarely give it away as five of their six successes have been accompanied with a clean sheet.
