Can David Moyes' side win their first home match of the season?
Sunderland v Hull - Saturday 15:00
Sunderland picked up a massive victory at Bournemouth before the international break, their first of the season, and David Moyes will hope his side can build on that result in front of their own fans. Emphasis must be stressed on the result, as opposed to the performance, with the Black Cats rather fortunate to come away from the Vitality Stadium with all three points. They only had 30% of the possession and faced 22 shots in total, but there was plenty of encouragement to take from the fighting spirit if not the quality on display.
Hull themselves recorded a much needed win over Southampton in their last match, though before this triumph they’d failed to win in eight attempts, losing seven of these and conceding 22 goals. Robert Snodgrass was the key man for the Tigers once more, dragging his side to the win from behind with a goal and an assist, and perhaps the most intriguing battle in this match will be his tussle with Patrick van Aanholt. The Sunderland left-back likes to get forward but in doing so could leave space for Hull’s most influential player to exploit.
Both sides will think they can get something from this relegation six-pointer in what could prove to be a nervy, cagey affair. Sunderland fans will be wary of too much optimism heading into this game though, having watched their side record just a solitary victory in their last nine matches against promoted sides (losing five of these games). With this in mind, and Sunderland having lost four of their five home matches this term whilst conceding 13 goals, we like the look of backing Hull (draw no bet) at 2.7.Bet £10 Get £30
