In-form Saints could pile more misery on struggling Palace at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace v Southampton - Saturday 15:00
Crystal Palace were left stunned by two late Swansea goals that turned a much needed victory into defeat, and the pressure on Alan Pardew is rapidly rising following six consecutive defeats. They’ve been abysmal at the back where they’re without a clean sheet in 18 matches now, conceding first in 15 of these and letting in 17 in their last five. As a result, they’ve lost the first half in seven of their last eight games, while in contrast, Southampton have won the first half in seven of their last eight matches where there was at least one goal.
The Saints followed up a satisfying victory over former manager Ronald Koeman’s Everton with an impressive showing in the EFL Cup against a subdued Arsenal side. They raced into the lead after 41 seconds at home to the Toffees, and never looked like relinquishing their advantage, whilst they were fully in control of the tie with Arsenal at the Emirates.
Current form would make Southampton heavy favourites for this, and they also enjoy a fantastic head to head record against the Eagles, winning five of the six Premier League encounters between these two sides over the last few years. Given how poor Palace have been of late, we think Southampton/Southampton in the half-time/full-time market offers great value at a price of 3.9.
