There have been at least three goals in eight of the last nine meetings between these two.
West Ham v Arsenal- Saturday 17:30, BT Sport 1
West Ham held Man Utd to a draw at Old Trafford last weekend but were roundly beaten in a repeat of the fixture on Wednesday in the EFL Cup. It leaves the Hammers without a win in five across all competitions, though they have faced some tough sides of late. It won’t get any easier for them here however, with Arsenal enjoying a fantastic record against the Hammers in the league having won nine of the last 11 encounters.
Arsenal suffered a disappointing defeat at home to Southampton in their own EFL Cup clash this week, though we shouldn’t read too much into the result with Arsene Wenger heavily rotating his side. However, it did serve to highlight the importance of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to this team, and both should return to the starting XI here. The Chilean scored a brace to help the Gunners to a victory at home to Bournemouth last weekend, leaving them unbeaten in their last 12 top-flight outings having won eight of these games.
Whilst there have been at least three goals in eight of the last nine meetings between these two (and at least four goals in over half), we think there is greater value in this match backing Arsenal/both teams to score at 3.25 rather than the 2.6 on offer for Arsenal/Over 2.5 Goals. Both teams have scored in each of Arsenal’s and West Ham’s last four, as well as in six of the last eight league fixtures between these two sides.
