Can St Johnstone keep up their impressive home form against the Champions?
St Johnstone v Celtic - Saturday 12:15, BT Sport 1
St Johnstone have picked up where they left off last season as they’ve accrued four points from their first two matches this term and have now won five of seven unbeaten games. Celtic, meanwhile, won at Hearts in their opener and have also all but secured Champions League qualification after thrashing Hapoel Be’er Sheva in midweek.
St Johnstone only lost five of their 19 home games last term and they managed wins over the top-two at the end of the season. They’ve already held last season’s runners-up Aberdeen to a goalless draw in their opener this time around and, what’s more, St Johnstone have lost just four of their last nine home games against The Hoops.
Celtic are W13-D4-L3 on the road since the start of last season but they look a little on the short side at 1.67 against a St Johnstone side that are in good form and have a recent win against them. With Celtic also having been in European action in midweek it’s certainly worth taking them on here by backing the St Johnstone or Draw Double Chance. Steve MacLean is the man to keep an eye on for home fans. He was St Johnstone’s top scorer last season and has netted in their last two games against Celtic, so we’re backing him to score again.
