A routine win looks on the cards for Ajax in Saturday evening's live TV clash in Amsterdam.
Ajax v Excelsior - Saturday 19:45, Sky Sports 3
After six straight wins, Ajax picked up a point at early leaders Feyenoord last Sunday, meaning the gap at the top remains five points. Excelsior, meanwhile, slumped to their fourth defeat on the bounce as they were beaten 2-0 at home by Zwolle meaning they’ve now failed to score in their last three and have dropped down to 11th.
Ajax struggled at home earlier in the season as they picked up just one point from their first two, but they’ve won their last three at the Amsterdam Arena and their record when hosting sides between 10th and 15th is W12-D1-L0 since the start of 2014/15 as they kept seven clean sheets in these games and led at the break in nine.
Excelsior have already been beaten 4-1 at Feyenoord meaning they’ve lost their last four trips to top-four sides, failing to score in three of those games. Since they’re also without a goal in three, we’re backing Ajax to win to nil and because Peter Bosz’s side have scored eight in their last two at home, we’re also going to back them to cover the -3 handicap in what should be a routine win.
