Portugal can win and keep a clean sheet on their Monday trip to the Faroe Islands.
Faroe Islands v Portugal - Monday 19:45, Sky Sports 1
Euro 2016 Champions Portugal suffered something of a hangover after their victory in France as they lost their opening qualifier in Switzerland but they got back on track with a comfortable home win over Andorra and they’re strong favourites to make it two out of three against the Faroe Islands, who have lost 24 of their last 31 matches.
The Faroe Islands have lost nine of their last 12 home games, failing to score in half of these games, while they’ve lost and failed to score in nine of their 12 home matches against sides that we have ranked in the world’s top 50 since 2008. Despite that poor record, they haven’t been complete pushovers as they conceded more than three goals in only one of these games.
Portugal have been strong travellers in recent times as they’ve won seven of their last eight away qualifiers and 11 of their 13 trips to sides ranked outside the world’s top 50 since 2008, keeping a clean sheet in six of these games and scoring an average of 2.5 goals. With that in mind, the handicap line looks about right at -2 and we’re going to have a punt on the 3-0 correct score.
