MIAS ANTHEM could have won with Big Daddy on his back at Hexham 10 days ago, and as such, looks a good bet to topple perennial under achiever Highland Lodge. Clearly in fine fettle at present, Noel Kelly’s inmate always had that race under control at the Northumberland venue and having cruised to the front rounding the home turn, he quickly put the race to bed with a nice turn of foot approaching the last. Despite a slight blunder at the final fence, the son of Royal Anthem ran out a ready winner and he appeared to have more in hand than the 12lb he’s subsequently been handed out as punishment.

MOBSTA shaped like he needed the race after a big absence at Beverley last time out but should be seen to better effect with that run under his belt and racing over a more suitable trip. Not surprisingly, Mick Channon’s charge was taken off his feet in that race run at a furious pace and although he never really threatened to take a hand in the finish, he keep on willingly enough in third to suggest he’s overcome the problems which have kept him off the track for so long. At his best this time last year over six furlongs with plenty of ease underfoot, the son of Bushranger can start to make up for lost time under those prevailing conditions.
