Tennessee Bird finally got the monkey off his back at the 36th try and he’s proven it was no fluke.
TENNESSEE BIRD (best price 3/1)
finally got the monkey off his back at the 36th time of asking over today’s C&D back in June and he’s gone on to prove that was no flash in the pan with several solid performances subsequently – including another victory on his most recent outing. Held up in traditional fashion, Mike Sowerby’s inmate came with a well-timed challenged approaching two out and in a twinkling of an eye, put the race to bed with smart change of pace to win going away. His final circuit time of 1.51.4 was better than the 102-rated The Big Dipper (1.52.7) and the useful Francis Of Assisi (1.52.2), so that would suggest the son of Danbird is capable of going in again despite an 8lb hike in the ratings.

FORCE (NAP) (best price 15/8)
failed to live up to his high home reputation on his first three starts, but fitted with the first-time hood, went some way to justifying the hype by bolting up at Haydock last time out. Having travelled well in the early stages, John Gosden’s charge exhibited a bright turn of foot to seal the race inside the final furlong and with the right horses in behind, the form looks solid. The fact that he was pitched into the deep end at Royal Ascot on only his second start suggests that he shows more at home than his current mark so providing he handles the polytrack surface at the first time of asking, there’s every chance he will prove too good for this field.

KINGSCROFT (best price 10/1)
clocked fair time for a claimer at Wolverhampton last time so it was little wonder that a shrewd barn snapped him up and that distinction went the way of Tom Dascombe who bids to keep up the good work with the seven-year-old from his Malpass base. Often seen at his best between 7f and 1m, in was encouraging for his future prospects, therefore, he managed to display enough requisite speed to win over 6f and there’s no reason why he shouldn’t go well again over the same trip providing he takes to this venue on his first visit.
