Henry De Bromhead has a strong hand in this competitive handicap chase and despite Tisamystery holding obvious claims, CROWN THEATRE (best price 8/1) is fancied to gain the bragging rights of the stable companions. The son of King’s Theatre warmed up for at tilt at this prize with an eye-catching display in a big-field handicap hurdle at Navan last time out, coming from a long way back to snatch second in the latter stages after being in an uncompromising position going down the back straight. Just as effective over fences on the evidence of his six starts over the larger obstacles, the six-year-old has plenty in his favour in order for him to make a big impression.

Although AVENANTE (best price 14/1) seemingly has plenty to find on official ratings, there’s a fair chance she will punch well above her weight in her first try in pattern-company. John Oxx is nobody’s fool and he clearly believes the daughter of Champs Elysees is worth her place in the line-up and it’s easy to see why the Currabeg handler has taken that view based on her scintillating performance in a maiden at Cork last time out. Relishing the step up in trip to 1m 4f, the improving three-year-old posted a big speed figure in winning by a wide-margin and with the second, seventh and eighth all going on to frank the form subsequently, she has the requisite stamina and qualities to ruffle the feathers of some of the bigger birds.
