Connections have always held FLEMENTIME(best price 4/1) in the very highest regard, but a series of problems have seemingly prevented Martin Keighley’s inmate from fulfilling those expectations. In a rather truncated career, some of her best form – such as six-and-a-half-length fifth in a listed race behind Glens Melody – would easily be good enough to see her figure in a race of this nature off a mark of just 123. Whether she’s quite up to that standard of performance following so many issues is open to question, but she could be just the type to catch right fresh off a layoff and at the prices, she’s worth a small risk.

Although it was touch-and-go whether FRIENDLY ROYAL(best price 7/2) would have won had Solway Legend not fallen at the last at Hexham on chasing debut, it was still an encouraging display by Sue Smith’s charge all the same. Ridden with plenty of conviction from the front, the son of Royal Anthem looked a totally different proposition compared to some of his modest hurdling performances and he looks just the type that the stable typically do well with in these kind of events up the north. With the runner-up, Present Flight, boosting the form with a win at Musselburgh on Friday, a five pound higher mark may not be enough to prevent this lightly-raced six-year-old from following up.
