Presence Felt posted a useful speed figure for a horse of his grade when winning with a bit to spare at Huntingdon
LETTHERIVERRUNDRY (best price 5/1)
looked like making a winning hurdling debut over today’s C&D when he made a bad mistake at the last and he gets the vote to make amends returning to the scene of that untimely blunder. A gorgeous looker, Brendan Powell’s charge had jumped well until that niggly mistake at the final flight and even though this assignment appears a tougher one on paper, he has enough quality to make his presence felt at rewarding odds.

Bottomless ground probably wasn’t what connections of ARMCHAIR THEATRE (best price 2/1)
wanted on hurdling debut, but he still ran a race full of promise behind the highly-regarded Ma Du Fou at Ffos Las and he should be more at home under today’s prevailing conditions on his second attempt. In a race run at a sound tempo given the heavy ground at the Welsh venue that day, Evan Williams’ charge couldn’t quite live with Warren Greatrex’s inmate in the latter stages but at the same time, his hurdling technique was good and he wasn’t subjected to a hard time once his jockey was aware he was no longer a threat to the winner. Sure to be a good deal more streetwise this time around, the son of King’s Theatre can draw upon all the knowledge he gained first time out and score again at a track where he has a record of 2-2.

BIG WHISKEY (best price 11/2)
produced a quite extraordinary performance when scoring over today’s C&D last week and he looks in the sort of form that should allow him to compete at this much higher level this afternoon. Having raced keenly and wide with no cover for the first three furlongs here four days ago, John Best’s charge compounded matters by proving almost un-steerable round the home turn. Having been straightened up by his pilot, amazingly the son of Ad Valorem just kept churning out the fractions down the lane to in the end go on to score with quite a bit to spare. Clearly thriving at present, the stronger they go the better his chances and he rates another cast-iron wager for a column that he doesn’t owe any favours.

PRESENCE FELT (best price 4/1)
posted a useful speed figure for a horse of his grade when winning with a bit to spare at Huntingdon last time and this improving sort remains one to keep on side. The form of the race was boosted when the runner-up, Vendredi Trois scored at Taunton last week and Jonjo O’Neill’s inmate has a similar set of conditions – trip, track and ground – in order to perform to the same level.
