Andy Holding has 5 selections for Monday's racing.
There looks to be one or two intriguing contenders loitering in the wings in this wide-open nursery none more so than ROCK OF MONACO (best price 9/1)
and EDITH WESTON (best price 12/1)
. The former ran a smashing race on her all-weather debut here 45 days ago and if it wasn’t for Anthony Brittain’s charge getting totally mullered on the rails after a furlong, she would have fared even better than she did behind the impressive winner, Parkour. As it turns out, that interference may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, as the handicapper appears to have totally underestimated the performance, allowing the daughter of Monsieur Bond to begin life in this sphere of a potentially lenient mark of just 51. Given that she was quite strong in the latter stages of that useful maiden, an extra furlong should suit and she appears to have slipped under the radar of the bookmakers based on her early quotes. The latter is little more exposed, but there was a crumb of comfort to be taken from her latest outing over today’s course last time out. After totally fluffing the start, Robert Cowell’s charge made up some nice late headway to be a never-nearer fifth against similar opposition and with a better break on this occasion, she has every chance of improving on that finishing position.

Edith Weston - 0.5pt @ 12/1
The speed figure produced by RUSSIAN RADIANCE (best price 15/8)
when winning over the C&D last time suggests she’s a filly worth following and based on the evidence of the clock, she may have done well to only pick up an extra 5lb for that scintillating performance. The way that she gunned down the subsequent dual winner Seychelloise in the latter stages of that strongly run handicap 31 days ago (ran the last two furlongs in 23.5), indicates Jonathan Portman’s filly is right on top of her game at present and providing she gets a reasonable pace to run at, there doesn’t appear to be anything in the line-up that will be able to cope with her turn of foot in the latter stages.
Russian Radiance - 2pt @ 15/8
SUNBAKED (best price 5/2)
really ought to have won a similar race to this over this course 12 days and even though the daughter of Kodiac is dropping back down a furlong, she still should have too much toe for this sort of opposition at the business end. Last turning for home, Eve Johnson-Houghton’s inmate ran into all sorts of trouble in the home straight and finishing full of running, she left the impression she would have won comfortably with anything like a clear run. Although up 4lb for that agonising defeat, Jamie Spencer takes over from Tom Queally in the saddle and the new partnership could turn out to be a married made in heaven.
Sunbaked - 1pt @ 5/2
