SILVER QUAY(NAP)(best price 6/4) couldn’t have been any more impressive when taking apart a competitive field over today’s C&D a week ago and can be expected to follow up under just a 6lb penalty. Although a winner of only one previous race, Richard Hannon’s charge had intimated on several occasions that he was capable of a big performance when the stars aligned and that’s exactly what happened for the son of Dark Angel in a race that set up perfectly for him. Off the back of very strong fractions, the three-year-old grey powered his way to the front with a sweeping manoeuvre rounding the home turn and from that point on, he gradually pulled further away from his toiling rivals. With Glens Wobbly in today’s field, this race is likely to be run in a similar fashion and that should set things up nicely for the selection come through at the business end.
SILVER QUAY - 2pt @ 6/4
just found the drop back to 7f catching him out at Kempton last time out, but he still ran well enough to suggest he’s worth another chance in this slightly weaker affair. In what turned out to be by far and away the best speed figure on the seven-race card at the Surrey venue last week, Dandy Nichols’ charge was doing all his best work at the finish and as he’d also ran with great credit behind the rapidly-improving Big Whiskey the time before, both bits of form give him a distinct edge over today’s field.
BIG TIME - 1pt @ 9/4
It’s been a tale of woe for OUTER SPACE in recent times – including for his army of supporters – but Jamie Osbourne’s inmate will no doubt land one of these prizes sooner rather than later for those that are willing to keep the faith and this contest looks well within his compass on the evidence of his latest unlucky performances. Arguably better on the all-weather than the turf, the son of Acclamation has endured several rough passages of late, most notably at Chelmsford two starts ago when denied a clear run going well inside the final furlong. Although he was by no means unfortunate last time out at the same venue, he did catch the eye running on strongly in the latter stages of much better race than the one he encounters today, and a repeat of that sort of effort should ensure another positive display from this largely consistent type.
