was a good winner at Wolverhampton two starts ago and might have gone close to following up but for running into a wall of horses down the home straight back over the same C&D 12 days later. Usually a slow starter, Lisa Williamson’s charge is often a hostage to fortune the way the race pans out, but as there’s often loads of pace on over 5f at this track, it might just be that everything falls into his lap again.

, who overcame a bad trip when winning here last time, has every chance of providing the Irishman with yet another all-weather success. Forced wide when making his challenge coming down the hill and round the home bend, the son of Archipenko did really well to keep kicking all the way to the line and as the time revealed it was as good a performance as it looked visually, this improving stayer is fancied to beat similar opponents off just a 5lb higher mark.

, the Co Dublin handler looks to have bagged himself another potential money-spinner. On his first start for new connections, the son of Rock Of Gibraltar showed distinct signs of promise in a red-hot handicap won by Grey Danube and he looks well worth a crack at the minimum trip on the evidence of that performance. Keen in the early stages of what turned out to be a very strongly run race over 6f, the four-year-old did really well to finish as close up as he did considering how much energy he expended and as the level of competition that evening was a good deal tougher than what he faces on this occasion, it’s quite a surprise, therefore, to see him chalked up as one of the outsiders.
