Meydan 18:30

Focusing on the turf handicaps in particular at Meydan means going in a little light today. The race which makes the most punting appeal is the last and a few of the usual sprint suspects are turning up. That said, it doesn't look the strongest of races and could well go to one of the few runners that have finished close to to the seemingly unstoppable Ertijaal of late. Naadirr should certainly appreciate the return to 6 furlongs and is entitled to improve for his first start out here. He’s well drawn to track the pace too and probably deserves to be favourite. Fityaan is back to the sort of price that makes him of appeal, particularly based upon his run 2 starts back. I do think a strongly run 5 (and plenty of luck) is his ideal scenario however. At the prices it’s really down to a choice between Divine and Jamesie. The latter is definitely a well treated horse and shaped really well last time. He’s perhaps not perfectly drawn but it’s not a big field so shouldn’t inconvenience. Divine shaped very well on her Meydan debut when not well drawn but finishing off strongly behind a thrown-in Ertijaal. The form of the winner means her run can be looked upon very kindly and she’s back off the same mark. The step back up to her preferred 6 furlongs looked to provide an ideal chance last time but she was disappointing. That said, she was next to the playing up Sholaan and I’m willing to forgive her the effort. Well backed 2/1 favourite that day, 13/2 makes plenty of appeal this afternoon and she’s well drawn to track the front running Caspian Prince.
