Top racing pundit Andy Holding has three bets at Gowran Park this afternoon.
PENNY PEPPER (best price 7/1)
has run two solid races so far this season and looks booked to play a significant role if performing to a similar level this afternoon. Sixth from a modest draw on her seasonal return in a hot Curragh handicap, the daughter of Fast Company built on that effort when finishing a creditable runner-up to Bluesbreaker at Cork eight days later and with the winner going on to frank the form at Tipperary in midweek, her claims are there for all to see.

BOCCA BACIATA (NAP) (best price 2/1)
is a top class filly when on song and following a run to blow away the cobwebs at the Curragh at the beginning of the month, Jessica Harrington’s charge should be at fever-pitch to strike for the fourth time in her career. Shaping as though the run would do her good, the Big Bad Bob filly will also appreciate today’s surface better than the one at the Co Kildare venue and even though she faces a potentially smart rival in the shape of Discipline, she has enough class and experience to cope with the younger upstart.

BEECHMOUNT WHISPER (best price 4/1)
gained a well-deserved success after a series of near misses at Leopardstown last time out and is strongly fancied to follow now he has the smell of victory still fresh in his nostrils. A largely consistent sort last season, Paddy Prendergast’s charge had the misfortune of hitting the crossbar on three occasions (all narrow losing margins) and there must have been times when connections felt he would never win a race. A solid effort behind the win-machine Tribal Path at Cork on his seasonal return teed him up nicely for his breakthrough win 18 days ago and with all underfoot conditions coming alike, and plenty of track form under his belt, the son of Kodiac has to be a must-bet for all each-way thieves.
