Packers should be able to cover the points spread at the Giants on Sunday night.
New York Giants at Green Bay Packers – Monday 01:30, Sky Sports 1
Sky Sports' final offering on Sunday night sees the New York Giants (2-2) travel to Green Bay, where the Packers (2-1) will have the added advantage of an extra week’s rest due to a bye last weekend. This is potentially significant as the Giants are coming off a shorter week than usual having played at the Minnesota Vikings in MNF.
The Giants have now lost their last two games but will hope to get back to winning ways at Lambeau Field, a venue they’ve won on their last three visits. They scored just 10 points last week but the Vikings defence is a different proposition to this Green Bay one. Giant’s receivers Beckham Jnr, Cruz and Shepherd will be relishing going up against a Packers side that has struggled to contain receivers so far this year.
The Packers came to life in their last outing after a mixed start in the first two weeks. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw four touchdowns in the first half in their victory over the Lions as they raced into a 31-10 lead, although they nearly blew it before finally winning 34-27. The run defence has been their biggest success so far, only allowing under 43 yards per game and that's not exactly a Giants strength either so they should feel comfortable there.
The Packers and Aaron Rodgers aren't the force they once were, but their extra rest versus the Giants shortened week leads us to believe that they’ll have enough to cover the handicap line here.
