The Chicago Bears are the most popular bet in the UK for who will win the Super Bowl, following the signing of All-Pro Khalil Mack.
In total, a whopping 26% of all bets placed on the Super Bowl winner have been placed on the Bears since news broke of the outside linebacker will join up with the squad.
The flurry of bets has led to bookies cutting odds on the Bears winning the Super Bowl in half, moving from $101 into as short as $51.
It’s a theme that permeates NFL ante-post betting, with Mack the second favourite to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year at $8. Only Aaron Donald is fancied more by bookies to win the award at $7.
Elsewhere, bookies are predicting a better season than last time out for the Bears, with a predicted over/under win line set at 7.5 games.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “There’s been a noticeable shift in the Bears’ price to do the unthinkable and battle their way to Super Bowl glory.
“The Super Bowl winner market enjoyed an unusual amount of attention as soon as news broke of Mack’s imminent signing, with the Bears receiving a plethora of punting attention.
“So much so, that bookies have literally cut their odds in half of doing so, with the line-backer leading to a Chicago Bears betting frenzy from UK NFL bettors.”
