Promising filly Zalatte has been the most notable firmer for Saturday’s Group One Surround Stakes (1400 metres) at Randwick.
Trained by Chris Waller, Zalatte was $26 with TAB when the market first opened yesterday afternoon but a steady stream of money has seen her halve that quote.
Pohutukawa, for James Cummings and Godolphin, is now outright favourite at $4.80 after being equal $6 top elect. Fiesta ($6-$5) and Nakeeta Jane ($6-$5.50) are also firmers in the past 24 hours.
“Zalatte was over the odds according to our customers which explains why they were keen to take the $26 early on,” TAB’s Andrew Georgiou said.
“A horse that is unbeaten in three starts and who has beaten Baller, which won last week at Rosehill, definitely caught the eye of a few astute punters and they snatched the overs.
“Outside of her, Pohutukawa has attracted the most money while Nakeeta Jane has had solid support as well.”
