Manuel Pellegrini chases down Jose Mourinho in managerial sack race
40% of all bets in the last 24 hours have backed the Chilean boss to go.
West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has had his odds decisively cut on being the next Premier League manager to leave his post, following yet another defeat for the Hammers.
Pellegrini’s been cut from $21 less than a month ago, into $6 second favourite to go next, now only trailing Jose Mourinho.
The Manchester United manager is still favourite to go next at $4.33, although has drifted slightly following the Red Devils 2-0 win away at struggling Burnley.
It’s a theme that’s been replicated in punter’s betting patterns, with 40% of all bets in the last 24 hours backing Pellegrini to be the first boss to go.
Mourinho is second most backed with 17% of all bets, and Rafa Benitez makes up the top three with 12.5% of bets on who will leave first.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: ”Another wave of pre-season optimism at West Ham has met a familiar fate after a shocking start to the season.
“Pellegrini's side are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League, and one can only assume that he has only avoided favouritism in the Sack Race due to the huge pay out he would be due should he get the boot.”
