Huge Upset: Shock result in the Premier League

The Premier League is full of twists and turns, but this is maybe the greatest ever shock.

The weekend looked pretty bleak for Liverpool when they went behind to relegation candidates Newcastle, Jurgen Klopp’s men turned it round in no time however and ended up pretty comfy winners at Anfield. The result meant they remained at the top of the ladder, but felt it was only a matter of time before City closed the gap.

The champions travelled south to take on newly promoted Norwich at Carrow Road. Pre-game pundits were predicting a 6,7 or 8 goal winning margin for City, with the home side missing a handful of players to injury. Manchester City found themselves as short as 1.07 to win the game, which implied a 94% chance that they would come out as winners. However, Norwich had other ideas…

What followed was one of the greatest shocks in Premier League history. Norwich raced into a 2-0 lead against the champions, and looked good value for that lead. Any nerves created when Aguero pulled a goal back just before half-time were quickly allayed when the home-side quickly extended their lead to two again after the break.

The Canaries were an eye-opening $29 to win before kick-off. We didn’t see any bets on the correct score, but if any punters were crazy enough to have backed 3-2 to Norwich, they would have got a massive $176.

Following the final whistle, punters started to pump their money into Liverpool to win the league. Even at this early stage, plenty of fans and punters alike think the season is over. A huge 74% of bets have been placed on the Merseyside team ending their Premier League draught, although Liverpool remain second favourites at $3.5.
