The bookmakers believe Jose could be in line to take over from under pressure manager

Everton spent an absolute fortune again in the off season, and it’s safe to say that expenditure has yet to make an impact on the pitch. They’ve been woeful this season which climaxed in a 2-0 home loss at the hands of newly promoted Sheffield United at the weekend. Following that defeat, the Merseyside club have found themselves sitting in 14th spot on just seven points.

It’s obviously still very early on in the season, and we’d be shocked if the club were to make any major decision about Marco Silva’s future this early on. However, Jose Mourinho is without a club and could well be tempted by the spending intent shown at Everton.

Mourinho has been without a job after being ousted by Manchester United last summer, but the bookmakers believe he’s a front-runner for the Everton job. The Portuguese manager is third favourite at $7.5 for the job. There’s only David Moyes and Eddie Howe ahead of him in the market.

Marco Silva’s men welcome Manchester City this weekend, and another heavy loss will only increase the pressure on the current manager. Despite Everton being at home against City, they’re a massive $10 to win the game.
