Survivor: Punters avoiding Pia despite her having a 94% chance of winning
Bookmakers cut the odds on Pia winning the show ahead of the final episode
We reported yesterday that Pia was the overwhelming favourite to win Australian Survivor, but that stranglehold has become even tighter. In the last few hours, the bookmakers have slashed her odds of winning from $1.25 to as short as $1.07, which implies a 94% chance.
However, the Australian betting public have decided there is no value in backing her at this price and have chosen to put their money on another contestant winning the series. Harry Hills' price has drifted all day, the dietitian was $4 to win the series yesterday. That price has doubled, and you’ll now find BetEasy offering $8 for him to win.
The rank outsider is Baden Gilbert, the bookmakers are giving him a very slim chance of winning, he’s currently $21 to take the victory. Despite him being so large in the market, miracles can happen and it was only a few days ago Norwich beat Man City, that result was $29 pre-game.
To put Pia’s price into context, the famous Winx had an SP of $1.06 in her last run in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Just over 67% of bets in the market since the last episode have been on Harry Hill scoring a surprise victory. Pia has been the second most backed by the public, and there’s been little attention given to Baden.
