We head into a tough round this week, many teams have secured post season play whilst others are looking to Mad Monday

Buffalo Bills -3.5 @ New York Jets

Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets

There’s one clear difference between these teams. Buffalo still has pride in the product they’re putting on the field. Although both teams are utter rubbish, The Jets mailed their season in about… 4 weeks ago. The Jets played a competitive game (as they always do) against the Pats, then got blown out at home by the Colts, followed by a win against the obviously tanking 49’ers, a drubbing at the hands of a Matt Moore led Miami squad and were toweled up by the Pats to close that stretch out. In my eyes the Jets aren’t trying, I wouldn’t try and tell myself otherwise.

Buffalo on the other hand lost in OT to Miami last week solely due to their coach having one less man on the field, on the play, which lost them the game. With Rob and Rex Ryan being fired this week, I’m looking for an emotional spike this week from the Bills. They’ve also benched Taylor at quarterback opening the door for EJ Manuel. Now I don’t see these changes having positive long-term effects, but it will provide schematic and planning headaches for the Jets who already didn’t care about this game in the first place.

The Bills should be the only unit on the field worthy of winning this one as the quarterback merry go round for the Jets continues.

TIP: Buffalo Bills -3.5

Chicago +5.0 @ Minnesota

Chicago Bears @ Minnesota Vikings

Chicago travels to the dome of Minnesota to take on a rather underwhelming Vikings outfit. The Vikings, sitting at 7-8, opened the season with a 5 game win streak. So for the budding young mathematicians out there, that’d mean they’ve won 2 of the next 10 games if my calculations are correct. You don’t need to be a wiz at maths to know that that indicates some very poor form.

Minnesota’s secondary last week deliberately disobeyed their coach’s defensive strategy and got burnt in the first half as a result. These guys aren’t only out of playoff contention, but they’ve stopped listening to their coach.

Chicago on the other hand has been quite a resilient team. This team has seemingly been out of playoff contention since week 3. This team has its holes, but they have a capable quarterback, a gun running back in Howard and somehow still have a hunger to compete.

In a game where one team has blatantly still got a fire to win and they’re getting points, I’ll take that over a team like the Vikings who really don’t inspire any confidence whatsoever.

TIP: Chicago Bears +5

Kansas City @ San Diego

Kansas City @ San Diego & New York Giants @ Washington Redskins

With little confidence of many teams putting in a decent shift this week, I’ve been forced to slap together a multi.

Two games where two teams have something to play for and their opposition doesn’t.

Kansas City still has the chance to win and with an Oakland loss (very possible having lost Derek Carr) take out the AFC West title. My only issue with this game is that San Diego is a great proposition in the role of underdog. Phillip Rivers is the consummate professional. As long as he’s in the squad they’ve got a chance.

Washington on the other hand is the team next in line for a playoff berth in the NFC. Barring a draw in the Lions v Packers game, Washington will be in with a win. Washington is not the type of team you want to lay any more than 6 point with. They’ve consistently let down their backers when favoured by a large margin but it’s hard to see them not at least managing a sound win.

The Giants on the other hand have punched their ticket to the playoffs and I see them playing quite conservatively. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eli start the game but gets benched after the first quarter to give the reps to the back up or to simply ensure his health for the big games to come.

SUGGESTED BET - DOUBLE: Kansas City Chiefs & Washington Redskins-3
