NFL Week 14 Betting Tips & Preview
Jeff Reinebold previews three big Monday games, and has picked two home teams and one road team!
Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens
What’s up, people? We’re well and truly down the final stretch now, and more great games are coming at us thick fast.
This week, I’m just going to go straight into three games and give you my thoughts. First up, the Ravens are going to have to go into Arrowhead and face the Chiefs, and it should be entertaining! The Baltimore defence is outstanding at the moment – The way they nullified the Falcons last week was impressive, despite Atlanta’s struggles.
They won a game they maybe shouldn’t have done, and that’s the hallmark of a good team. Lamar Jackson is a very exciting prospect and his rushing style of play will show up on plenty of highlight reels. This is a man who got 50 rushing TDs in college and his teammates are clearly all in on the guy. I just worry a bit though, because the NFL is a place where players are bigger and hit harder than anywhere else.
All that being said, the Chiefs are a formidable prospect, especially at home. That crowd will play a huge part, just like they have done all season. It’s the main reason why I’m picking the Chiefs to get by, but in a close encounter.
Houston Texans v Indianapolis Colts
Next up, the Colts travel to Houston after they got stuffed by the Jags, to take on the team with the hottest streak in Football. We shouldn’t be surprised by the Texans, their roster is star-studded across the board. They’ve finally got their guys all playing at the level they are capable of and have a run game that takes the pressure of DeShaun Watson. And we haven’t got to DeAndre Hopkins, who in my mind is the best in the league at his position!
The Colts will be desperate to bounce back after their loss in Jacksonville, but I think that in their own backyard, the Texans will be too strong to handle. Back the home team once again.
Finally, we’ve got the Rams heading to Chicago to take on the Bears and I really can’t wait for this one. It’s hard to win in Soldier Field if you’re a road team, with the wind usually playing the biggest part in disrupting a team who aren’t used to it. That’s because it can affect kickers and QBs who can take much of the game getting used to their unfamiliar surroundings.
But I do expect the Rams to win and there’s a number of reasons why. Firstly, they’re getting Aqib Talib back to almost full fitness and he makes a huge difference in their secondary. You’ve got Aaron Donald and Todd Gurley who are just getting it done in their positions right now.
Finally, and most importantly, they have gone to tough places this season and got the job done. We saw them pull out wins at Seattle, and at Denver, two tough places.
I like the Bears, I really do (that’s why I touted them as a potential playoff team at the start of the season!), but I think that LA gets the win on the road.
